Purpose
We are looking for Finishers (retired or near retirement couples) to mentor students in various least reached and most vulnerable locations in Asia. The aim is to provide guidance and support rooted in faith and life experiences. Applicants need to be people who love and relate well to students. Cultural sensitivity and adaptability are crucial for understanding and respecting diverse cultural norms and backgrounds, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Effective communication skills will enable successful candidates to build meaningful relationships with students, encouraging open dialogue and mutual learning. Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to reach the lives of young people for Christ are essential traits to make a lasting impact.
Possible locations include Thailand (with Myanmar student refugees), Cambodia, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Skills
In addition to cultural sensitivity, applicants will need strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. They should be open to understanding the challenges faced by Asian students, as well as the ability to provide guidance and support in personal matters. Flexibility and adaptability are important. Finally, a deep commitment to Christian faith and values will guide mentoring efforts of successful candidates, helping provide spiritual guidance and encouragement to the students.
Support
Our Mission Global team will walk with you along the way – from application to deployment. Training, administrative support and mission coaching will be provided, along with promotional and fundraising assistance.
