Praying for the Pajonal Asheninka of Peru

Praying for the Pajonal Asheninka of Peru

The Pajonal Asheninka (pronounced: pah-ho-NAHL ah-SHEN-ing-kah) people, living on the eastern slopes of the Andes, have faced centuries of cultural disruption and external threats. From the rubber industry’s trespass on their lands to the trauma caused by terrorism and epidemics, they continue to experience immense challenges. With only a few churches and the New Testament in their language, they are in need of deeper understanding and spiritual transformation. As the Pajonal Asheninka engage in small-scale agriculture and hunting, they also face the looming threat of further cultural disintegration, particularly from the rubber industry.

PRAY that the Pajonal Asheninka would come to understand that Jesus is not just another prophet, but the eternal God, and that His message would take root in their hearts.

PRAY that Christianity would remain distinct from their traditional beliefs, and that the gospel would transform them in a way that honors their culture.

PRAY for the continuation of Old Testament translations and that power encounters within these scriptures would resonate with the Pajonal Asheninka, leading to spiritual breakthroughs.
