A following Jesus story:
Maryam’s story is quite dramatic and involves a family death threat and a just-in-time escape. Raised in an observant Muslim family, Maryam came to faith in Jesus through the work of an American English teacher and kept it secret for six months. When her family announced they had secured a suitable Muslim husband for her, Maryam declared, “I am now a Christian!” Her father responded violently, hitting her and burning her Christian books.
Two days later, he took her to the local graveyard and threatened to kill her if she did not reject her faith. She was saved by her grandfather’s intervention, who begged for her life until the end of Ramadan. On the last day of Ramadan, a local Christian woman helped Maryam escape to a safe house. Eventually, Maryam returned to her family and sought reconciliation. While her family has not embraced Christianity, they now accept her faith.
PRAY for continued protection and safety for Maryam and others like her who face persecution for their faith. Ask for divine intervention in dangerous situations and for the provision of safe havens and supportive communities.
PRAY for courage and strength for Maryam and other believers in similar situations. Pray that they would be empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue sharing the love and truth of Jesus Christ, even in challenging circumstances.
