PAOC Global Worker, Bonita, had been having progressively more painful back issues, and the doctors were considering surgery. She was using a walker anytime she left the house so that she didn't fall. In August, a new medication to treat nerve pain was prescribed, but even at the highest dose, it was only partially successful at relieving the pain. Bonita could only walk for exercise using a treadmill, because it had sidebars to hold onto.
Then in December, the treadmill broke, and Bonita heard God whisper to try walking outside again. She worked up to walking 30 minutes a day around the property with her walker. Then, the week before Christmas, she heard God's whisper again. Try to go around using two canes. This would be harder, canes didn't give the same support. But she obeyed, the first morning managing only once around with the canes before reverting to the walker. But by the end of the week, she was using only the canes.
Then the next Spirit nudge came. Try walking the circle without the canes. This time the freedom came faster. Within three days she was doing the circuit without any type of assistive device and worked up to doing that route with her canes. For the first time in several years, she is able to walk without any assistive device and even preached ‘hands free,’ much to the surprise of the visiting regional director, Mark Hazzard. Bonita is praising the Lord for His gracious hand.
