400 million are gathering in Prayagraj, India from January 12 to February 26 to celebrate Maha Kumba Mela, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings. Maha Kumba has ancient origins rooted in Hindu mythology. This globally significant festival holds spiritual and cultural importance for Hindu purification, and to showcase India’s rich heritage and economic importance to boost the local economy.
On Wednesday, Feburary 29, over 30 people were killed and dozens wounded in a stampede to reach the waters for ritual bathing to cleanse from past sins and end the cycle of reincarnation. Let’s pray for those grieving and injured that blind eyes would be opened to the forgiveness that has already been provided in Jesus.
